Q: Into the Storm

“Project 17” / Q: Into the Storm

From December 2020 to March 2021, I worked on this insane HBO Documentary series alongside a talented team of artists at Mass FX. It was a unordinary experience to say the least. All communications were done through super-encrypted messaging software. If we used the internet, we had to use TOR to keep our work anonymous. All graphics work was done on a single hard drive and any left over files were immediately deleted after the project was wrapped. I signed all kinds of NDA’s. My own family had no idea what I was working on for three months. It was a wild ride!

Since I don’t have any files from the project, be sure to click on the button below to see the motion graphics reel for the project. I primarily handled “Digital Forensic,” “QDrop,” “QProof,” and “Image” shots. There’s a lot of digital shots of computer screens throughout the series, you can see a handful of them in the trailer above. That’s the kind of stuff I worked on.

We didn’t know the actual name of the show until the final week of the whole thing, so in my mind, it’s still “Project 17.”

Some of My Work

A very small collection of the Digital Forensic, Drop, Proof and Image Shots I worked on.

Some Crazy Stats!

We delivered 413 Digital Forensics, 110 Character Chyrons, 45 Explainer Animations, 80 Location/Date Stamps and 9 Glossary terms for the final edit of the 6 episodes for a grand total of 651 final shots in the show. That took just under 5,000 hours from our team of 16 people.
