Drift Racing / Europe
The reel you see here showcases some of the cool work I did for Drift Masters, the British Drift Championship, and the Irish Drift Championship. It starts with the openers for each series, with a special focus on the Drift Masters package. The BDC and IDC packages follow a similar vibe but have their own twist with different colors, logos, and flags.
By the time I tackled this project, I had been working with Adrenaline Garage on Formula Drift stuff for a good while, especially after we shook things up with a new look in 2016. We got pretty good at updating the broadcast packages each year to fit what they needed, so we had a solid workflow in place.
The goal this time around was to make the intros pop and give them a 3D feel, but all we had in our toolkit were 2D and 2.5D tricks in Adobe After Effects, mainly because the budget was tight. This was key since sponsors and logos change all the time, and we couldn't afford to redo a 3D opener for every new logo. My workaround? I took one vector logo and duplicated it about 50 times, nudging each copy a tiny bit in z-space to fake a 3D effect. This old-school method worked out well, and both Adrenaline Garage and the clients were pretty happy with what we pulled off, especially considering the budget.
