INFECTION was shot practically with no CGI, on a tabletop in a garage. We used a mix of ferrofluid, UV inks, and common glow stick fluid, then manipulated it all using magnets of different shapes and strengths.
The images were captured using a Red Weapon VV at 6k and a variety of macro techniques. The “wide” shots used a Zeiss 100mm macro ZF. For the “close-ups,” we used a 21mm lens with a reversing ring, which achieves a microscopic level of magnification.
Jon, Annie and I did all the fluid stuff. Jon shot it all then cut the footage together and I made the music and titles. It was a fun little project!
