The loose narrative behind crafting the "I'm A Star" video stemmed from the basic idea of using "sensitive" and sometimes "troubling" iconography and imagery, including face masks, massive protests, explosions, and police in riot gear, to create an atmosphere that seemed genuinely cordial and fun.

Technical Notes

The "I'm A Star" video was generated in January 2025 using OpenAI's Sora. It was created using various custom Sora presets I made which defined the visual aesthetic throughout. The presets were created to mimic the look of cell-phone footage, local and national news coverage, VHS camcorders, and police bodycam footage.

All images were created at 480p for speed and efficiency, then edited in Adobe Premiere, with all graphics made using Adobe After Effects. Once the edit and graphics were locked, the images were upscaled to 720p using custom processes (unsharp mask, grain, etc.).
